A Good New Years Eve

Tonight was spent bowling with Things 1 and 2 and my mom. Tres fun...

It was so much fun: the music, the dancing, the glow sticks. They were mesmerizing.

And It Really Works...

You really can run out your problems. Our time yesterday: 25:17! Mind boggling! And I really didn't feel that fast, but I imagined every step pounded out my problem. By the time I finished, even though I didn't have a concrete solution, I had decided that it was only a minor bump in the road. There are people who's lives are really tough and mine isn't one of them. Yes, my days of frivolous spending are over and I probably won't be able to afford new running shoes until February, but that's okay, too.

Besides, if I keep running 10:28 miles, my goal of a sub-2 hour Broad Street Run might not be so far off.

Trying to Stay Optimistic

So I'm in the middle of a minor breakdown. Let's just say that an education is an expensive thing that can quickly wipe out even the best laid plans. The only thing keeping my minor breakdown from becoming a major one is knowing that there's always a solution. I just have to find it. And these are the solutions I've come up with so far for my $28,000 problem:
1. Sell some of my stuff, cancel the cable and telephone/Internet
2. Get a second job aka a side hustle, something brainless that pays like $10+ an hour, preferably under the table (I can't afford taxes)
3. Get a BETTER job, because I'm not making an MBA salary and me and the new boss aren't clicking

That's all I got so far. Insha Allah my run (late run, I needed this so bad like 5 hours ago!) will inspire some more ideas...

What Happens When I Wake Up at 4am (for no reason)

So this was my first attempt to open and eat a young coconut. Apparently young coconuts are all the rage in the raw food world but their impenetrable shell intimidated me. Until that is, I saw this video. It inspired me to visit my local Whole Foods, grab my big knife, and go for it. However, I also learned that a week may be too long to let a young coconut sit without refrigerating, as indicated by the purple meat and brown coconut water. And since I get food poisoning from just looking at rotten food, I decided to pass on eating my hard earned young coconut and just chalk it all up to a learning experience. Shout out to my fellow raw foodies...

Say hello...

To my new fuggs! And omg, its like having your toes wrapped in clouds! I hope they stay this soft. And for only $35!?! Chyes!!! I am perfecting the art of self gift giving on a budget. The key is to bid frugally on eBay. Done consistently, the presents never stop coming. No, I have to get back to waiting for my raw book to come and watching those electric toothbrushes...

This is a test...

Of my email to blog abilites. Because I am that bored...

Two Pizzounds!

Chyeah! I know it's not much, but its exactly what I needed to keep me in gear. I figure another 5 in the next month and five in the month after and I should be cool. I'd be happy with anything that moves me into the next quadrant, though, which is a MAJOR milestone and only 7 lbs. away! Chyeah! I love the sound of that! Michael Phelps says that you have to keep your goals close at hand and look at them daily if not more. I've been thinking about this and trying to find a spot to put my fitness goals that I'll see everyday. Maybe I need to retool my vision board.

In other news, I woke up this morning at 6:30 am and stayed awake. WTF, mate? It was nice to take my time, even though I forgot my breakfast, lol. It's another slow day at the office, only three of us in, which is why I'm posting from work. Yesterday I paid bills and made calls, since I was the only cubicle dweller. I don't think I've ever paid my bills on pay day, but as the new, financially fit Smoni, I will have to make it a habit. It felt quite nice actually. Now I have to just keep my unplanned spending under control...

New Year, New Me

Yes, I know, I'm five days earlier, but I've always been a little advance. My biggest focus for this year is health and fitness and staying consistent. Like making it a lifestyle not a phase. And my other focus is my financial future and tying up all the loose ends that come with college debt and a closed small business. That is all. Short and sweet, like me...

Oops, I almost forgot my run and raw. Let's see, raw until dinner, which was soup and salad with a bad unraw dressing. And my run was Valley Green under 27 minutes. Granted that's not the under 26 record we set on Saturday, but its not bad after a 54+ run yesterday. so I was quite pleased.
